Service Description

No experience necessary — learn about ceramics and give the potter's wheel a try! Pricing: $98/person (2–3 people) $90/person (4–9 people) In this 90-minute private lesson, you’ll receive customized, hands-on instruction tailored to your skill level and goals. Come with your own ideas of what you'd like to make, or let us suggest beginner-friendly options! All tools, supplies, and materials are provided, and we’ll start with a step-by-step demo before you dive in. Each participant gets their own wheel, workstation, tools, and UP TO three (3) 1lb balls of clay—no sharing! Why 1lb? It’s the “universal starting weight,” ideal for learning to center. With it, you can make mugs, bowls, vases, and more. Three balls of clay strikes the perfect balance: enough to explore, while encouraging you to slow down, focus on quality, and enjoy the process. Partial cleanup is all that’s required—we handle the rest! Firing & Finishing: One (1) finished piece per person is included. Additional pieces may be fired and glazed for $10 each if desired, though not at all necessary, as the session is intended to be all-inclusive. This small processing fee covers the extra time, labor, and kiln space needed to transform additonal pices from clay to ceramic. Please note: the main goal is learning and having fun—finished pottery is a bonus! This is NOT "paint-your-own" pottery, and no "painting" will take place during this session. Paint-your-own pottery involves decorating pre-made, pre-fired bisqueware. Here, you’ll be working with stoneware clay to create your very own functional pottery from scratch (way more fun and interesting, though we are biased)! Because the ceramic process spans 4–6 weeks, your chosen piece(s) will be trimmed, glazed in your selected color, and double-fired by us according to its natural timeline. When ready, they’ll be food, drink, microwave, and dishwasher safe. Finished work will be ready for pickup in about 6 weeks. Visiting from out of town? We’re happy to ship your pottery—an email will be sent with shipping instructions once your pieces are complete.
