Private Wheel Throwing Lesson (2-9ppl)
A hands-on private experience for just you and your party! Create whatever you please!
Service Description
No experience necessary — learn about ceramics and try the potter’s wheel! Pricing: • $98/person (2–3 people) • $90/person (4–9 people) In this 90-minute private lesson, you’ll receive customized, hands-on instruction tailored to your skill level and goals. Come with ideas for what you’d like to make, or let us suggest beginner-friendly projects! All tools, supplies, and materials are included, and we’ll begin with a step-by-step demo before you hop on the wheel. Each participant gets their own wheel, workstation, tools, and up to three (3) 1 lb balls of clay—no sharing required. One pound is the ideal starting weight for learning to center and can be used to make mugs, bowls, vases, and more. We encourage exploration while guiding you to slow down, focus on quality, and enjoy the process. Partial cleanup is all that’s required—we handle the rest. Firing & Finishing: • One (1) finished piece per person is included. • Additional pieces may be fired and glazed for $10 each, though certainly not required. This small fee covers the extra time, labor, and kiln space needed to transform additional pieces from clay to ceramic. Please note: the main goal of this session is learning and having fun—finished pottery is just a bonus! This is not a “paint-your-own pottery” class. Paint-your-own studios work with pre-made bisqueware. Here, you’ll be creating functional pottery entirely from scratch using stoneware clay (way more fun, though we may be a little biased!). Because the ceramic process unfolds over 4–6 weeks, your chosen piece(s) will be trimmed, glazed in your selected color, and double-fired by our team. Once complete, your pottery will be food-safe, drink-safe, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe. BYOB-friendly for guests 21+. Children & age restrictions: Children are welcome to attend when accompanied by a parent or guardian. We generally recommend this session for ages 8+, as the pottery wheel requires coordination, strength, and sustained focus. As such, younger participants may find the wheel especially challenging or the 90-minute format a bit long. We ask that parents use their best judgment regarding attention span, comfort, and safety. Before booking, please review our FAQ section for important details. Session Breakdown: 15–20 min: Ceramic process overview + demo 50–60 min: Wheel time (guided instruction) 10–20 min: Light clean up, decorating, altering & color selection
