Uninstructed Studio Time is self-led, open studio access for independent makers. No demos or instruction — just tools, space, and time to create at your own pace. Studio time may be booked as a stand-alone session, or as part of a membership.
In order to book studio time, you must complete at least one multi-week pottery course — either at Pinch or another studio.
Clay and firing are charged separately (scroll down for pricing).

How Do Memberships Work?
Memberships provide makers with access to the studio for a set number of sessions each month, at a discounted rate. Membership includes use of shared tools and equipment, a designated personal storage space, discounted clay pricing, and 15% off communal classes and workshops — perfect for brushing up on specific techniques with instructor support or joining a fun, project-focused session.
Memberships renew automatically each billing period and may be canceled at any time. Once canceled, access remains active through the end of the current paid billing cycle. Unused or unbooked sessions do not roll over.
How to schedule studio time with a membership:
Once your membership is active, scheduling studio time is easy. Simply log into your member account and proceed to book Uninstructed Studio Time as you normally would (select “Book Now” next to the Uninstructed Studio Time offering on this page).
After choosing your desired date and time, you’ll be prompted to check out — just select your membership under the "payment for uninstructed studio time" drop down, to automatically apply the session to your monthly allowance.
All studio time must be booked in advance, as a limited number of wheels are reserved each day specifically for this purpose. Advance booking allows for accurate tracking of membership hours and ensures real-time availability within the studio booking calendar for other customers. Walk-ins are not permitted!
Sessions are booked in 90-minute time blocks. Members are reserving the entire time block and not flexible or open-ended studio access. Studio time begins and ends exactly at the scheduled session time. For example, if a session is scheduled from 6:45–8:15pm, studio access begins at 6:45pm and concludes at 8:15pm. Members may not begin working prior to the scheduled start time and must ensure all workstations are fully cleaned, reset, and vacated by the session end time. Members wishing to work beyond their scheduled session must book multiple consecutive sessions in advance, subject to availability.
Sessions may be canceled or rescheduled through this same member portal.

Clay
Clay is not included with memberships or stand-alone studio sessions. You may bring your own pre-approved Cone 5/6 clay, or purchase studio clay. We exclusively offer Laguna B-Mix. All clay must be paid for prior to use.
• $2.50/lb — stand-alone session/non-member
• $1.50/lb — with a membership
For billing purposes, clay is considered used once it has been handled/manipulated in any way, regardless of whether the work is fired, kept, recycled, or discarded. In other words reclaimed clay remains subject to payment, as the reclamation process requires additional staff time and resources. We suggest only buying what you need, as you can always buy more. :)
Firing Fees
We embrace a quality over quantity mindset and encourage makers to fire only the pieces they truly love and want to see reach completion (after all, pottery is one of the few art forms that can last forever).
Firing fees are charged separately and are based on the finished piece’s largest dimension (height or width, whichever is greater):
• $5 — pieces under 7”
• $10 — pieces 7”–14”
Fees include two firings for each piece (1 bisque and 1 glaze). For example if you make a 6" tall mug, it will cost $5 TOTAL to have it bisque fired once and then glaze fired once.
Firing fees are due upon completion of the glaze firing and must be paid in full, at the studio, prior to taking work home.
